Community Engagement Volunteer Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Community Engagement Volunteer Intern will help coordinate logistics and volunteers associated with various volunteer programs and all community events. This includes countywide beach, inland, and community cleanups. This position will help with volunteer inquiries, conduct program outreach, coordinate supplies, create promotional flyers, social media posts, and materials. This position is great and available for college students working towards course credits.

Department: Community Engagement
Reports to: Community Programs Manager, and at times, department’s Coordinators
Type of Employment: Unpaid Internship
Internship Dates: 3-6 months / ongoing
Time Commitment: 6-15 hours per week at ILACSD office, including occasional weekend and afternoon/evening events.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

• Assist with coordination of I Love A Clean San Diego’s community events and programs
• Attend and staff cleanups, community outreach booths, and various outreach events
• Promote community events including collateral and website updates
• Help manage department supplies, including preparation, inventory, and proper and timely breakdown/storage
• Assisting with donation outreach, responding to volunteer inquiries, and event permitting
• Fostering positive relationships with community groups, local media, elected officials, and other parties who can assist ILACSD in fulfilling its mission and supply funding
• Professional and accurate representation of I Love A Clean San Diego
• Assist other departments as needed
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Commitment to working in a team environment
• Ability to interact with diverse groups of people
• Effective communication skills for diverse audiences
• Knowledge of environmental challenges facing San Diego County and/or desire to learn more
• Reliable transportation
• Occasional weekend and evening availability
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Bilingual Spanish/English – bonus!
