The Regional Program’s Coordinator will support the Community Engagement Department by coordinating logistics for the organization’s two large-scale countywide cleanups, in collaboration with the Regional Programs team. This role will manage, foster, and steward volunteer and partnership opportunities while leading the following community programs: Annual Countywide Cleanups, Cigarette Litter Prevention Program, Corporate CleanBuilding, and Clean Beach Coalition. The position will emphasize program recognition, access, growth, and involvement in each of San Diego County’s diverse communities.

Type of Employment: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Rate: $18.00 per hour, and mileage reimbursement at current CA rate for event travel only
Schedule: Monday to Friday schedule with weekend availability required for two annual countywide cleanups. Occasional weekend work for cleanups and outreach events.


  • Coordinate and execute two largescale annual countywide cleanups: Creek to Bay (3rd Saturday in April) and Coastal Cleanup Day (3rd Saturday in September)
  • Manage logistics for 100+ cleanup sites with respective volunteer site leaders, coordinate recruitment of 5,000+ volunteers via online registration, create event messaging, organize trash hauling, supply inventory and distribution, conduct volunteer training meetings, write internal reports, and update program manuals and training guides
  • May include ArcGIS program integration with support such as creating program dashboards and reporting
  • Manage, promote, and grow the organization’s Corporate CleanBuilding program, including recruitment for corporate groups, overseeing budgets, promotion, and leading cleanup events
  • Oversee and implement the Clean Beach Coalition Program, including event planning, timeline and coordination, promotion, partnership stewardship, and reporting
  • Oversee and implement the Cigarette Litter Prevention Program, including leading the 100+ buttcans inventory, and maintenance, cigarette butt data collection efforts, maintaining and establishing partnerships, organizing volunteers, and grant reporting
  • Maintain data in the volunteer management database (Samaritan)
  • Lead cleanup events throughout San Diego County
  • Track and utilize metrics and write reports for respective grants, programs, and contracts within given deadlines
  •  Work with Marketing department to market community events including collateral (creation of flyers, blurbs, Facebook events, etc.) and event content for ILACSD website
  • Support the Director of Community Engagement to complete department-specific contracts, tasks, and organization where necessary
  • Foster positive relationships with community groups, local media, elected officials, and other parties who can assist I Love A Clean San Diego in fulfilling its mission and supply funding
  • Correspond with volunteers to encourage participation with I Love A Clean San Diego’s programs and events
  • Professional and accurate representation of I Love A Clean San Diego
  • Other duties as assigned

• Ability to work weekend events
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Google Drive, Slack, Zoom
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required
• Must be able to lift 30-50 LBS
• Requires sitting, standing, walking long distances at cleanups and events
• Reliable transportation


• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Effective written and spoken communication skills for diverse audiences
• Ability to troubleshoot event challenges efficiently and confidently
• Ability to work well with subordinates, peers, supervisors, partners, and external stakeholders
• Comfortable presenting in front of large groups
• Commitment to working in a team environment
• Knowledge of San Diego County and its environmental challenges
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
• Previous volunteer coordination preferred
