About
Kids Ocean Day
Kids Ocean Day consists of an assembly style school presentation to educate students on pollution prevention and ocean conservation. These presentations are followed by every school coming together on the same day for a beach cleanup and aerial art project. These interactive and hands-on experiences motivate kids to become active environmental ambassadors who change their daily habits and inspire others to do the same.
Kids Ocean Day is about that first WOW moment of pure joy when a kid who has never been to the beach before steps off the bus, experiences a life altering moment, and thinks they can save the Earth – we believe that first moment of DISCOVERY is the catalyst for a lifetime of caring for the planet.

Legacy
History
In 1991, Michael Klubock, a sailor turned environmental educator, channeled his love for the beach into the creation of a school assembly education effort. He wanted to get more kids to the beach and connected with nature. While developing and presenting the program to the schools, he established the Malibu Foundation for Environmental Education and Kids Ocean Day. Since then, Kids Ocean Day has expanded along the length of the California coast, from Humboldt County to San Francisco, south to Huntington Beach and San Diego, and even across the Pacific Ocean to Hong Kong.
I Love A Clean San Diego joined the movement in 1999, and has since connected almost 20,000 students and over 40 elementary schools to San Diego's beaches and conservation efforts!
