REGIONAL PROGRAMS COORDINATOR – Full Time

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Regional Programs Coordinator’s main responsibilities will include being the primary leader for the organization’s two large-scale countywide cleanups, including directly collaborating with the part time Regional Programs Coordinator and with a team of approximately four staff. This role will run two additional community programs: Cigarette Litter Prevention Program and the Drop in the Bucket cleanup kit program. The position will emphasize program recognition, access, growth, and involvement in each of San Diego County’s diverse communities. DEPARTMENT: Community Engagement

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Non-Exempt
RATE: $17.00 per hour, and mileage reimbursement at current CA rate for event travel only
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Coordinate and execute two largescale annual countywide cleanups: Creek to Bay (April) and Coastal Cleanup Day (September)
- Includes managing logistics for 100+ cleanup sites with respective volunteer site leaders, coordinate recruitment of 5,000+ volunteers via online registration, create event messaging, organizing trash hauling, supply inventory and distribution, , conducting volunteer training meetings, writing internal reports, and updating program manuals and training guides
- May include ArcGIS program integration with support from I Love A Clean San Diego’s ArcGIS Specialist, like program dashboards and reporting
- Oversee and implement the Cigarette Litter Prevention Program, including leading the 100+ buttcans inventory, and maintenance, cigarette butt data collection efforts, maintaining and establishing partnerships, organizing volunteers, and grant reporting
- Oversee and implement the Drop in the Bucket cleanup kit program for the department, including distribution plans, inventory, marketing and promotion to volunteers alongside Board of Directors
- Maintain data in the volunteer management database (Samaritan)
- Lead cleanup events as needed
- Conduct and track report writing for respective grants, programs, and contracts within given deadlines
- Utilize the department’s ArcGIS maps and reporting systems for respective programs
- Work with Marketing department to promote programs, including collateral (creation of flyers, blurbs, Facebook events, ) and program content for I Love A Clean San Diego’s website, blogs
- Support the Director of Community Engagement to complete department-specific contracts & tasks and organization where necessary
- Foster positive relationships with community groups, local media, elected officials, and other parties who can assist I Love A Clean San Diego in fulfilling its mission and supply funding
- Correspond with volunteers to encourage participation with I Love A Clean San Diego’s programs and events
- Professional and accurate representation of I Love A Clean San Diego
- Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and spoken communication skills for diverse audiences
- Ability to work weekends
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Google Drive, Slack, Zoom
- Ability to work well with subordinates, peers, and supervisors
- Comfortable presenting in front of large groups
- Commitment to working in a team environment
- Knowledge of San Diego County and its environmental challenges
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Previous volunteer coordination preferred
- Must be able to lift 30-50 LBS
- Requires sitting, standing, walking long distances at cleanups and events
- Reliable transportation

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Work is normally performed in an office setting; regularly sits at a computer station and operates electronic equipment 6 to 8 hours per day; occasionally lifts, carries and positions objects weighing up to 35-50 pounds. Position may be asked to assist with other duties during events and outings which would require employee to be physically active and supportive on site where cleanups and/or event activities occur. Access to the workspace is gained only by use of stairs on the 2nd floor. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
