Coffee Date Cleanup 2/11/23 with Think Blue San Diego

Join I Love A Clean San Diego and Think Blue San Diego for a Valentine’s weekend litter cleanup in Barrio Logan! We will divert litter from the Chollas Watershed and keep it from traveling to the Pacific Ocean.

Our staff will be set-up with a check-in table at Memorial Dog Park. Join us at 9am for a talk about our watersheds and recycling right, then grab supplies and help us clean up the neighborhood!

We will sort, weigh, and dispose of collected litter, and after the cleanup you can request a community service letter in your Community Hub dashboard.  Enjoy fresh coffee and hot cocoa thanks to our partner, Café Moto! They will be at the event kick-off site from 9am to 11am serving free drinks from the Café Moto van or pop up tent (weather permitting).

This event requires a signed release-of-liability waiver for all volunteers, and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian. Please download and print the waiver below, sign, and bring with you to this cleanup.

Location: Memorial Dog Park –  Memorial Park, 2975 Ocean View Blvd, San Diego, CA 92113

  • Kick off site located on the corner of 29th St and Ocean View Blvd. Look for our tables and tent!

Parking: Available around Memorial Dog Park

Bathroom: At the park!

Service Projects:

We have an additional Storm Drain Stenciling Project you can do during this cleanup to DOUBLE your community service hours! This involves painting a conservation message on storm drains in the neighborhood. All supplies provided and no experience necessary. E-mail staff at lmann@cleansd.org to reserve your kit. Only 1 kit available so reach out ASAP!

Cupid’s Cleanup 2020 with Toby-Wells YMCA and Societe Brewing Company

Come show your love for San Diego at our annual Cupid’s Cleanup on Saturday February 15th! Join I Love A Clean San Diego, Think Blue San Diego, and the Toby-Wells YMCA at Easting Park in Kearney Mesa to clean up the park and surrounding neighborhood from 10AM-12PM. Bring your loved ones to this wonderful event to help celebrate Valentine’s Day!

Afterwards, head to Societe Brewing (8262 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92111) to receive discounted beers for volunteers at their brewery tasting room, so you can keep feeling the love after the cleanup! The YMCA will also be promoting their opportunities during the cleanup so volunteers can learn more about getting involved.

I Love A Clean San Diego will bring cleanup supplies and explain the impact of this cleanup on our watershed, as well as verify community service hours. This is a great opportunity to learn ways to protect our local environment!

We encourage volunteers to bring your own reusable items such as water bottles, work gloves, and buckets to help us in our mission to have a zero waste, litter free and environmentally engaged San Diego region!

All volunteers are required to fill out a waiver form to participate and anyone under the age of 18 needs a waiver signed by their parent or guardian.

See you there!

Cupid’s Cleanup and other Green Valentine’s Day ideas!

SONY DSCHave you found it increasingly difficult to be creative each Valentine’s Day? Well, you’re in luck! Today’s blog comes from our Marketing Coordinator, Sarah, who has put together some great eco-friendly, Valentine’s Day-themed ideas! Read on to learn how to celebrate with the environment in mind!

Celebrate your love for the environment at Cupid’s Cleanup!

Switch up your dinner and a movie routine! We want you to join us on Sunday, February 15th for a street-sweep cleanup and Valentine’s Day-themed mixer hosted by AleSmith Brewing Company! Complimentary beer tasters will be on-hand for adult volunteers as a “thank you” for your hard work and to celebrate our love for a cleaner community. This is also a great way to connect with like-minded singles, couples or even new friends. Take Ken and Julie for example!

In 2007, Ken and Julie met for the first time at Cupid’s Cleanup…

Fast forward to 2015, they are happily married with two children, ages 2 and 4 years old! They have since moved to Oregon, and continue to protect our environment by instilling environmental values in their children who, by the way, already enjoy putting trash in its place!

Although they won’t be joining us at this year’s event, Julie shared these kind words with us…

“We have not forgotten about you (ILACSD) or where we met.”

Candy

Let loose, get your valentine some sweets! Instead of the cliché heart-shaped box of candies, head over to the bulk section and fill up reusable glass jars with more variety and less waste!

Flowers

Instead of buying flowers that are going to wilt and die within a week, choose a sustainable and earth-friendly drought tolerant plant! Here are a few of our favorites:
