About the Position
The Zero Waste Event Volunteer Intern will support the Community Education Team with tasks associated with the Zero Waste Fair and other community education programs, including workshops and webinars. This position reports directly to the Community Education Manager. This I Love A Clean San Diego internship is open to college students or other adults.

Type of Employment: Volunteer, Unpaid Internship
Internship Dates: Start date through end of June 2022 (at least through June 30th, potential to extend into July pending availability)
Time Commitment: 6-10 hours per week with occasional weekend events

General Duties Include:

  • Assist with coordination of the Zero Waste Fair, taking place in-person on June 25th, 2022
    • Pre-event coordination: support the opportunity drawing by soliciting in-kind donation items, tracking items and outreach, assembling opportunity drawing packages, and thanking donors
    • Day of event: Attend and assist in day of organization for the Zero Waste Fair
    • Post-event wrap-up: manage inventory of materials following event, create and write reports with final details
  • Create marketing materials as needed and communicate outreach needs with the Marketing Department
  • Assist with day-of support for webinars and workshops, including hosting a Zoom event, preparing materials, welcoming guests, running the registration table, and other tasks as needed
  • Foster positive relationships with residents and businesses who can assist I Love A Clean San Diego in fulfilling its mission
  • Professional and accurate representation of I Love A Clean San Diego
  • Assist other programs/departments as needed including general office tasks and outreach events
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to attend and help host Zero Waste Fair on June 25th, 2022
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to respectfully communicate with donors and other stakeholders
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Multi-tasker and quick learner
  • Ability to work well independently and on a team
  • Savvy with technology; proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; experience with Canva preferred
  • Ability to work remotely utilizing personal equipment
  • Reliable transportation
  • Knowledge of environmental challenges facing San Diego County, especially waste and recycling issues
  • Vaccinated for COVID-19
  • Knowledge of San Diego region preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
